Gemini to Anki: Flashcards from Your Chats (2026)
Gemini walked you through a topic — now the good stuff is buried in chat history. Three ways to get it into Anki, from free-and-manual to one click.
Updated August 2026 · works with Gemini (gemini.google.com), ChatGPT (chatgpt.com), and Claude (claude.ai).
Option 1 — Prompt Gemini for importable CSV (free)
At the end of a study conversation, paste:
Turn the key points of this conversation into flashcards. Output ONLY CSV, no commentary, one card per line: "question","answer" Keep questions specific and answers under 30 words. Escape any quotes inside fields.
Save the output as .csv, then in Anki: File → Import, map field 1 → Front, field 2 → Back, pick a deck, import. Delimiter and quoting pitfalls are covered in the Anki CSV import guide.
The catch: you repeat this for every chat, long conversations can get cut off mid-output, and bad quoting shifts fields (check Anki's import preview).
Option 2 — Anki add-ons that generate cards with AI
Searches like "gemini anki addon" usually lead to Anki add-ons that generate cards using an AI model through an API key you configure. That's a different job: it creates new cards inside Anki from text you feed it, rather than converting a conversation you already had. Useful for bulk generation (some accept pasted text, so you could paste a chat in) — but it's configuration-heavy, not a one-click conversation export.
Option 3 — One click on the conversation itself
- Install the free extension. AI Chat to Flashcards adds a button to Chrome. Conversation content is processed in your browser and not uploaded by the extension.
- Open the Gemini conversation — today's, or one from weeks ago.
- Click the icon and download an Anki-compatible CSV, or copy tab-separated text for Quizlet. No prompting, no CSV wrangling.
Every Gemini chat, one click from being a deck.
Free · up to 20 cards per export · one-time $9 unlocks unlimited · Gemini, ChatGPT & Claude.

Can Gemini create Anki flashcards?
In a plain chat it writes CSV text you import yourself; automatic pushing into Anki needs separately configured tooling.
What's the add-on route?
Anki add-ons can generate cards via an AI API key — bulk generation inside Anki, not conversation export.
Same flow for ChatGPT and Claude?
Yes — same extension, same click: ChatGPT to Anki · Claude to Anki.
